Virginia Academy of Science  (VAS)

​Project Background
The Virginia Academy of Science (VAS) promotes the advancement of science in Virginia by providing support for research projects and the dissemination of their results in the Virginia Journal of Science.

CS (Citizen Science) Activities with Virginia Academy of Science (VAS):

Virginia BioBlitz 2020
A statewide BioBlitz will be held on September 26, 2020, to get a snapshot of biodiversity in many areas around the Commonwealth.  ORMN volunteers and participants spend 30 minutes recording whatever species they find in nature and sending in photos via the app iNaturalist.  To register for the event, go to https://sites.google.com/view/virginiabioblitz/home
  • Location: This is a virtual event, so you can join from home or anywhere else in Virginia.  
  • Physical Requirements/Safety Hazards:  None.  
  • Special Requirements:  Use of a smartphone and ability to upload photos to iNaturalist app.
  • Time Commitment: 30 minutes on September 26, 2020. 
  • To report volunteer hours and travel time on VMN-VMS:
