Our first class at graduation.

The Old Rag Chapter, formed in 2007, has completed basic training for a group of 25 individuals in the first class. The class celebrated graduation on December 3. Many class members have aleady started service projects and are attending advanced training. Individuals in this class will become certified Virginia Master Naturalists when all their requirements for certification are met.

On December 3, 2007, the graduates and other members of the Chapter elected the Old Rag Master Naturalists Chapter's first Board of Directors. The Board, initially comprising 12 Master-Naturalists-in-Training, includes:

Master Naturalist Training. 2008-03-04 — The next course will be held in the fall of 2009.  

Wildlife Habitat Open House. 2009-02-07 — One-stop shopping for habitat information! Saturday, Feb. 7, 10 a.m.–3:30 p.m. 

Articles

Chapter Begins Stewardship Project at Montpelier. 2008-05-23 — Old Rag Chapter began a long-term stewardship commitment to James Madison's Montpelier with an inaugural garlic mustard pull in the Old Growth forest. 

Project Montpelier. 2008-02-11 — The site is one of the few existing Old Growth Forests on the east coast which, over the years, invasive plants have encroached upon. 

Forestry Field Trip. 2007-11-10 — The Chapter visits Jim Ballard's 100-acre wooded tract. 

Chapter Trainees Learn About Stream Monitoring. 2007-10-13 — On October 13, 2007, the current class of trainees for the Old Rag Master Naturalist Chapter attended a field trip to learn about stream assessment.
